Volunteering with Moraph for Good

Moraph for Good is Moraph’s social impact program. It gives Moraph’s software, security expertise and people’s time to nonprofits, community lenders, clinics and small public bodies. The people are Moraph’s own: colleagues who do this work for banks, hospitals and agencies every day, taking part during working time, alongside their client work.

How Moraph people take part

Four ways in, each using what you already do well

Moraph for Good runs five programs. Four of them are delivered by Moraph people; the fifth, Access, puts Moraph software in an organization’s hands, set up by Moraph implementation teams.

Pro Bono

Projects with a written scope

Engineers, data specialists, compliance and privacy professionals and project managers join a project an organization has never had the skills or the time to finish: moving off a failing database or spreadsheet, building the report a funder or regulator requires, an accessibility or privacy review. Every project has a written scope, a named Moraph lead, an end date and a handover.

Shield

Security reviews for small teams

People from our security operations look at how an organization’s email, devices, accounts and backups are set up and write down what to fix first, in plain words. Where hands are needed rather than advice, volunteers help switch on the protections that matter, write a one-page incident plan with the organization and walk its leaders through a tabletop exercise.

Pathways

Mentoring and teaching

Practitioners from our operations centers, service desks and compliance teams teach sessions on the work as it really is, and mentor learners through a course and their first applications, with workforce organizations and community colleges near Moraph offices. Pathways is in development with its first partners.

Commons

Writing what we know

Practitioners write practical guides that any organization can use without applying for anything, such as the security field guide for small organizations. If you find yourself answering the same question for client after client, the answer may belong in Commons.

How it works

The rules every engagement follows

  1. 01

    Part of the job

Moraph for Good work is done by Moraph employees during working time, alongside the teams that serve Moraph’s paying clients. You agree with your manager how it fits around your client commitments.

  2. 02

    Scoped before anyone starts

You join an engagement with a written scope, a named Moraph lead and an end date, so you know what you are signing up to and the organization knows what it is getting.

  3. 03

    The same standard

The software, security help and people Moraph for Good offers are held to the standard Moraph applies for paying clients, and the same security and confidentiality rules apply to your work.

  4. 04

    Not a sales channel

Who receives support is decided by the Moraph for Good team against published criteria, not by sales. Volunteers never use an engagement to sell Moraph services.

  5. 05

    Their story is theirs

Moraph does not name an organization, quote it or use its logo without its written permission. The same goes for anything you post about your volunteering.

  6. 06

    Ending well

Engagements finish with a handover: documentation, credentials and training, so nothing stops working when the Moraph team steps back.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be in a particular team to take part?

No. Pro Bono draws on people from every business unit. Shield is staffed mainly by Global Resilience Operations, and Pathways by Talent Acquisition and practitioners from our operations teams, with volunteers from elsewhere.

Is it done in my own time?

No. Moraph for Good work is done during working time, alongside client work, as moraph.org sets out.

How do colleagues get involved?

Colleagues tell the Moraph for Good team which programs they would like to help with, and the team matches people to engagements by the skills each one needs.

Can I ask about Moraph for Good in my interviews?

Yes. Ask your recruiter or interviewers how the team you are applying to takes part.

Is Moraph for Good a charity?

No. It is a program of Moraph LLC. It is not a registered charity or a foundation, and it does not accept donations.

I work for a nonprofit. How do we apply for support?

Apply on moraph.org. One form covers every program, and a person from the Moraph for Good team reads every application.
